ZX7R Air Shift

ZX7R Air Shift
I just bought the bike last week, it has been modified with an air shifter among a few other things. I just noticed when I got to work today, that the bottom of the air shifter, where it would connect to the shift lever, is not connected to anything at all, it's just hanging there. Now it gets in the way when I'm trying to shift. The only thing at the bottom of the shifter is the rod coming out of it, with threads around it.. and there's nothing special on the shift lever. What type of part do I need to get to connect the two again? I don't know if the rod's supposed to moun to the inside, outside, or directly on the top of the shift lever. Let me know if anybody knows about these and can help me out some! Thanks
you can kind of see the shifter in this picture... this is not necessarily with it disconnected (actually I don't know if it is in this pic or not). I'll run down and take a pic here soon and post a current picture of what I'm looking at.
edit: added photo
I'm sure this is nothing big, but I don't know too much about these shifters, and want to put it back together right.

RE: ZX7R Air Shift
No answers here, but just questions. I see a stud area on the shift arm that I would not think as oem. Is the air shift shaft that close to the shifter at all times?

RE: ZX7R Air Shift
You know... I didn't look at it good enough when I first got it to remember how it's even supposed to look. Somehow, the airshift rod has to connect to the shift lever, and I'm guessing somehow it mounts right to the top of it, via another piece that was fitted where the hole in the shift arm is. If I could even find out the name of the manufacturer who made the air shift kit, I could at least go to their website or something and see if they have parts available. I know it's just a simple fix, but with the air shifter just hanging there like it is, I'm a little afraid that it's going to get in the way one day when I'm going through the gears and possibly cause me a problem. If I get her back together... I'll throw another picture up.

RE: ZX7R Air Shift
It looks to me, and I don't know these bikes but judging from the picture. Your shift arm is more to the forefront in the picture than a rod that is behind and slightly belowit. It appears the shift arm is on a pivot that pushes or pull that pushrod forward or backward. That pushrod is also on a pivot and clamped to a splined shaft that is going into the bike.
My guess is that splined shaft forward of your shifter is actually where the transmission is. But it is just a guess.
If that is true, if I were you, I would relocate that entire air shifting piston thing to directly act on that black pivot arm on the left side of the picture, rather than the one you use with your foot. You could also mount the piston horizontally and connect it to that pushrod. Either of these cdhoices would get that entire assembly out of tangle rangeof your foot.
