ZX-600R OIL LIGHT STAYS ON, HELP
My engine oil light remains on. I just changed my oil and filter, used Castrol syntec, used new filter. Used 4 quarts oil, restart bike and engine oil light remains on. I allowed machine to idle several minutes, while watching engine temp, shut off, restart, engine oil light remains on. I disconnected negative battery terminal, reconnected battery, restart engine, oil light still stays on. I checked wire to oil pressure switch, wire looks good.
I do not know what I did wrong, do I have to prime this oil pump somehow? I should not have to. Owners manual says to allow engine to idle several minutes to "FILL OIL FILTER". So i do not think it is necessary to add oil to a new oil filter, before installing filter.
Any suggestions please? I am stuck!!

You posted the question in the wrong section. Check your oil pressure switch; it may be defective. Was the light on while the bike was running before you changed the oil? Do you hear any abnormal knocking? Take out the oil pressure switch and make sure it's not clogged. If you remove the switch wire, does the light stay on? Ground the wire to the frame or engine, does it stay on? It should come on if you ground it and go off when you diconnect it. If it stays on while disconnected. the wire is shorted/ pinched against something and grounding.

first problem is yes pull the switch... and try not to use fully synthetic oil... it has in some models burned the clutches out right away, and does burn them up in the long run... think of this...... clutch gears are made to catch together or slip better? ... ok so lets put something even more slippery between them? doesnt sound right does it. semi synthec is the way to go... helps the engine yes.. and its not as slippery on the clutches.
