Default Ultimate Newb, I need help! (MODS)

Hey, So I'm picking up my 2012 KLX250s tomorrow afternoon. I've been reading about a crapload of stuff on KF and I've come up with a couple questions. I'm looking to do some minor mods on my bike once I get it. From what I've read it looks like I'd want a FMF Q4 slip on, dynojet kit #2204 (I know its not for my model year, but from what I've read this is what others have used?), either remove lid or get a kdx and drill the choke jet to .018" to prevent starting problem. Would all of these things need to be done at once? For example, just putting the slip-on & doing something with the lid would that negatively effect my bike? Or would it just decrease the overall performance of the Q4? Any help would be greatly appreciated! If I missed explaining something let me know, I'm new here just trying to learn

You should be able to put on the Q4 without needing to rejet. However, opening the air box will require a rejet. If your bike starts fine you may not need to drill the enrichment jet.

Thanks for the reply !! alright so if I just leave the air box alone I can run the Q4? & the only reason I was saying I'd drill the jet was since I'd be in the carb anyways.

Yes, you should be able to run the Q4 without rejetting as long as you leave the airbox stock.

My '06 wasn't a real hard starter. But drilling the enricher did make it an easy starter.
