Default transmission problem?

So my friend went on vacation a few days ago and lent me his ninja. I am fully responsible for it so basically if I break it I buy it. I was riding it yesterday and it was my first time riding a bike. I could not figure out how to get it in reverse. is his transmission messed up or am I doing something wrong. I did stall a few times. Did I mess up his transmission or clutch. I really need someones help on this because I can not figure out on my own if I broke his bike.

O yea...I almost forgot....April fools! lol im bored sorry for wasting your time

To get the bike to go in reverse, you need to find a solid stationary object, wall, truck or something like that. Then just bounce the front wheel off the object and you will go backwards. If you can do it at say, 10mph, you can back up quicker

Read the owner's manual for instructions on finding reverse gear.

Must be...

half way through I got all excited and started coming up with all kinds of mean things I was going to say. And then I got to the bottom and all of my hopes and dreams were ruined... All of those AMAZING one liners thought up for NOTHING!
