You can always throw some ties downs on to secure it.

 

Ok, I just wanted to be sure that when cleaning it, and actually working on it that the bike wouldn't fall off of a stand like that.

Also, how the heck do you get a 448 pound bike up on that? =P

 

that stand of deej's works great for a bike like Deej's....not so good for a heavier, more ackward street bike. Get an actual stand for your bike, or do like Dragone said, IMO anyway :-)

The stand in the photo is useless for a lot of bikes though. Fine for dirt bikes.

For sports type bikes a rear paddock stand does for most jobs. I like to team it with a jack under the front of the motor if I can so that the front forks are unloaded. Otherwise a rear stand lets you remove fairing and exhaust, then a lifting stand might be useable afterwards.

I use a rear stand, a front stand, a stand like the one shown, a car bottle jack and a couple of axle stands, depending on the bike and the job. I've also very rarely, found it easier just to hang a bike from the ceiling with a hoist.


Some jobs, like removing wheels, are impossible without a stand, and even an oil change can be a pain in the **** with the bike on a side stand. I hate road bikes without centre stands, even though I ride one.

My first bike was an 07 250 ninja brand new and it had a center stand, now I'm riding a 02 zx7r with only a side stand. I've always changed my oil with it on the side stand with this bike and it's not too bad.

I just want to be able to work on the bike without having to worry about it falling over.

 

Even though I use a front stem lift and the rear swing arm lift on my street rides most of the time, a good drill rod through the swingarm pivot on two jack stands make it nice to set up suspension as well as cleaning.

A one man operation, easier with two. Set the stands to the approximate location, have the drill rod in one hand, lift up the rear of the bike with the other hand, and slide the drill rod through the swingarm and onto both jack stands.
