Taking a bike apart to work on it.
Should I buy two wheel stands to keep my bike on while I am working on it? I don't want to invest in any kind of a work bench because I can't spend that kind of money, but couldn't I just use two stands and work on my bike with that? I know the bike needs to be straight up and down, and I don't have a center stand. Any input or suggestions would be great

Here's what I got, I paid like $250.00 for mine, but I have seen them for around $100.00. Sears also has some jacks that will work. Here is what I have.
That way you can get it way up off the ground to wash it...because let's be honest, a clean bike is a happy bike.

You can also use heavy drill rod from msc or similar, and use two car jack stands. Most people have two jack stands. That method holds up a 10r with no issues for suspension setup.
edit: The drill rod goes throught the swingarm pivot and rests on the jack stands. You can work on both ends of the bike.
edit: Good drill rod will set you back about $13 for the stick, cut it to length.

a stand is INVALUEABLE.
then again, i work on bikes for a living.. but trust me.. you'll wonder why ya never bought one earlier.
you can work on a bike without em.. i did it for years, but it really is soo much nicer rocking a nice stand out to work on stuff.

So you all think that what Deej has is the way to go?
Also, is there anything actually holding the bike to the stand? I'd be afraid with something like that, that the bike would not be steady when removing bolts and screws.
