STOCK FULL EXHAUST REMOVING/INSTALLING
hello everyone. i have a 1993 zx7r and i'm about to purchase a full exhaust (stock) probably by next week and i need to know
how to install it on my bike? the person who had this bike before me (i believe) has a d&d full exhaust on it and it's really old.
i searched the do-it-yourself forum, but it's not listed. is the job pretty much plug n play? i appreciate the help...brian

RE: STOCK FULL EXHAUST REMOVING/INSTALLING
Yes it is plug and play for the most part. With the lower fairings removed install the headers and other components loosely before installing the springs. I also recommend using new crush washers for the header and head install along with antiseize compund on the studs.
edit: Tighten the headers to the TQ specs with new gaskets, tighten the muffler and hanger prior to the spring install. Keep the mid pipe loose for easier assembly prior to the spring install.

major rule...
soak the header stud with a badass spray lubricant!!!!!!
you never ever wanna have to try and drill those things out if they break.. trust me. i know for experience.
but why are you putting a stock exhaust back on?
and like drag a roni said... put new copperwashers in and never-sneeze all the fasteners. the old ones will leak if you reuse them 9 outta 10 times.
and drags way of doing the install keeps your new washers from getting destroyed, so even tho its tempting to take a lazy way out, the weight of the exhaust will crush thecopper gaskets more at the top than on the bottom, then when the flanges are tightened, they'll leak at the top.
god luck bro..
maybe thats a writeup i should do...

to answer your question whitehendrix: i don't know how long this full exhaust been on the bike, but it's looks really old(rusty manifold pipe) and my d&d is kinda loud for riding in and out the apartments everyday, waking everyone up. that's just my conscious speaking but i tried to take some good shots of the pipe so y'all can see what I'm talking about
