Default Smoke!!

Howdy all,

I have a 06 ZX-6R 636, and after the long horrible winter, its time to start the beast up again. Today I finished putting in the fresh battery, changing the coolant and cleaning the hoses... and I added fresh oil. However, I started her up and just took her for a tiny spin (around my driveway) and I noticed it is smoking quite a bit... any ideas for this? Would it be some old oil stuck in the system? Is there any way the fuel would cause the smoke? ( I did add stabilizer although not necessary)

Any ideas would be great, as I wanna get this thing on the road ASAP!

Thanks all

Not 100% but maybe the stabilizer in the fuel would do it. Is the smoke out of the tailpipe? How much smoke? and how long have you run it for. May have to really ride it and blow it out.Good Luck

My only question is how come you didn't at least start it once a week for 10 minutes? Or just get one of these and you won't have to worry anymore. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall its all good. Sorry didn't' mean to thread jack. Um you might have a sticky valve.

Double check your oil drain plug and run it a few miles. I always get oil on the headers after an oil change.

We really need to know what color (or shade) of smoke, how much, and where it's coming from.

Sorry about the vagueness...

The smoke was a dusky grey, to nearly black... when I revved it a bit the color got darker. Really not sure, gonna try to drain all the oil and replace the fuel tomorrow.

That's DEFINITELY not oil burning. You're running a very rich air/fuel mixture to have black/grey smoke. Fill up your tank with some fresh gas, and run a good fuel system cleaner. That might help out some.
