Default Sloppy sounding engine, any ideas. Please read!

Hello, Just bought a zx6 1994 ninja.The motorcycle has 14,500 miles.

The engine sounds sloppy in it's lower end at idle or when not throttling. Not a knock, but like a sloppy sound. It runs good and as I said before the sound goes away when throttling. Any ideas? Thanks...

Regards,
The Rev. AC

Sounds like another one of kawasaki's wonderful cam chain tensioners has crapped out on you. If the cam chain is loose due to a bad tensioner, it will sound sloppy especially at idle, and lower rpm's. You can replace it with another one, or, find a manual cam chain tensioner. Nothing beats the reliability of a manual tensioner. You just need to check it at every valve service interval.

I am assuming that at 14,500 miles the valves have already been adjusted? And therefore, the cam chain tensioner was adjusted.
