Default Retarded Question

Ok dont laugh, yes i work around cars but have really never worked on bikes or know much about them. So i have some questions.

1. What kind of Oil and how often changed?

2. Plug changes, how often?

3. Someone told me to leave the gas tank full when i store for winter so their is not much water condensation, sounded
reasonable since its really humid here, is this true?

4. Feel free to offer anything else " A complete guide for Motorcycles for Dummies perhaps"

Thanks alot guys

Here is a link to winterizing a motorcycle - I do most of these, except for covering the bike - I find I get a lot of condensation on the bike if I cover it. I store mine in a shed and go out once a month and turn the front tire (bike is up on the centre stand) so that the tire doesn't develop a flat spot.

As for oil - I can't remember the weight but I use Bel-Ray and plan on changing around the 5,000 km mark (not sure how many miles that is). As for plugs, from a previous post, you can tell I don't change plugs often - I'm not sure how often you should change them. I'll probably go by what my Clymer manual says.

That link that I posted has a lot of awesome info if you want to dig around, it is a really good site!

I also have a 250 and I use 10w 40every 1200-2000mi and change filter. Make sure ou check your coolant b/c mine dried out last year and you don't want to blow it up, make sure use recommended coolant not car coolant. valves, plugs, carbs adjust every 6000 at least unless it is stored outside then change plugs every year. Gas tank, full tank of gas add sta-bil let run through carbs, ie ride through neihborhood. unhook battery I usually remove and store in dry place. If need be, fill cells with distilled water and hook up to trickle charger or battery tender. But all of this depends on where you store it, if youre storing outside in the elements make sure you use some WD-40 on all your bolts and chain.
