quick airbox question about '09 KLX250s
Well i am a member of another forum and i had mentioned that I had removed the rubber snorkel from the lid (snorkel only not the entire lid)of my air box cover. the jetting is stock as is the exhaust and a member replied saying that the bike is so lean from the factory that doing that could damage the engine. If this is correct then how much damage might have been done to it? also cant i adjust the carb to make it not so lean? thanks in advance. expect a lot more questions in the future.

You and your generic responses 95. Here's something thats not so generic: I dont know, I'm a street guy.
A lean mix will cause your engine to run hotter, with an air cooled motor it could cause significant heating and stress if it was unable to cool properly. Its still running so chances are you dodged a bullet, either way there is not much you can do about it now. Keep an eye on it and let us know how it goes.

thanks 95451! prom the bike is liquid cooled. im just concerned. i mean i guess it doesnt matter too much i got the 3 year warranty on it and kept the snorkel to put back in if i need to cash in on the warranty......but right now the snorkel is 300 miles away.

Told ya, I'm a street guy, I dont know this stuff. I dont know what damage leaning the mix will do, I assume your real question is can you still ride it, which I cannot answer. The only thing I could see causing you any damage would be hot spots in the engine which could lead to detonation which seems unlikely since all you did was take off the snorkel, but as you have already guessed I know nothing about your motor and cannot advise you. The dirt guys will be here soon and set me straight I'm sure.

trust me Deej...all in due time. Just got temporarily laid off for a few months so getting anything for the motorcycle is completely out of the question. The guy on thumpertalk just got me paranoid about ruining my engine....dont want to do that before i head out west for 6 weeks......like im so paranoid about it that I was going to go ride today but thought about it and changed my mind.......
