Default Puzzling Spark Issue

Hi there, first post. I need some help with my old '76 KX 125. Its a 125 top end with a 250 bottom end so I'm not quite sure what that works out to for displacement, I haven't run the numbers. But I am having a problem, I have no spark. I bought new plugs, I have 2 sets of coils, lighting coils and flywheels. The bike ran all day before today, then all of a sudden it just fell flat on its face and died. I have no spark being generated whatsoever, I even jumped the old wiring and ran it directly. What else is there is my question? Any help would be apreciated.

Thank you!

Your pickup is bad.Just because there is power to the coils doesn't mean they'll fire. They have to have a signal. Check it out.

Pickup as in points? I have 3 complete ignition systems, and none want to work. I'm very puzzled...

Ok, I found ANOTHER set of lighting coils and it has spark. But if this decides to quit on me does anyone have a reason why my lighting coils are breaking? What can I do to fix them and what can I do to prevent further issues with it?

Thank-you.

zapping coils..if you are running point style system, you might make sure the condensor on the points is good...Also, if does again, and condensor is good, you might try to install a coil ballast resistor...if you have any kind of electrical spikes in the system, could fry a coil..the ballast resistor will keep the same voltage constant... cheap enough and worth a try??

Thankyou for the help, I might try that. Took it out again today but I had other issues (carb gromet decided it would break today). This bike is kind of a mix of three different machines and i havent worked out all the kinks quite yet. I'd like to know if anyone here has one of these bikes, ask a few questions. BTW, what is the purpose of the dual plug head? My friend was telling me it was to elimate a hot spot on top of the piston for inbetween heats.

Thanks for the welcome and thankyou again for your guy's help.
