Default punching the baffles in the exaust

I punched the baffles in my exaust pipes, I was going for more sound. I have a 2007 meanstreak. after punching them the bike got quieter rather than louder! I'm not sure why, is it because of the cat converter? Does anyone know how I might get more growl out of the pipes without replacing them or removing the cat converter? Any help would be awesome! I have the flat black pipes and I love the way they look!

I'm guessing you have packing and a central "tube" in the muffler? If you can get the muffler apart, you can either take out the fiberglas packing or remove the central tube. However, if you decrease the back pressure (from the packing and/or tube removal) you will likely need to re-jet. I'd probably just start with the packing, first. (Don't leave only the packing in, if you remove the tube. You don't want the packing to plug the exhaust hole at 70 mph; kinda scary.)

I got a light in the pipes and they are open all the way to the cat converter, so I'm assuming that's what is blocking the sound. Anyone know for sure?

You can cut out your baffel and make a larger one. We went the other way with my friends. He has one like the Voo Doo's about 20" w3" dia tube. Way to loud we used the end cap and scraped there baffle. Made it 1.75" to about 2.5" at end cap (tappered) . used perforated sheet metal to make baffle. The amount of insulation controled the pitch of the sound.

the bike is heavily detuned. its lean and you made it run even leaner. its making less power so it sounds weaker because it is.

my zx9 had a Muzzy 4-1 and factory ignition advancer and jet kit. it was so quite. after i put a stronger ignition system it made some sound.
