sup everyone.. I got a 1999 zx6-r , but have a problem i've been gettin recently.. my bike won't go any faster than 50mph, i've noticed that my bike won't go over 6k to 8k rpm, i don't know whats the problem.. when i'm riding, i've noticed my rpm go up from 1k,2, etc.. up to 6krpm, and then it starts to drain down to 5k,4k, and steady... plz help ASAP~

You can clean them your self... YOu need to pull the carbs off, dismantle them, clean them thouroghly, then reassemble everything. It is actually not that hard to do. Maybe 2 hours or so....

I think there was a post on here somewhere that there were pics to doing this.. I'll see if I can find it for you...

 

You might also have water in the gas. Get some water remover (HEET) from the Auto parts store and put it in your tank. Also, drain the carbs. A lot of people are having these problemd because of the Ethanol they're adding to the gas. I will become a bigger problem when the percentage of ethanol increases as the EPA will require more of it. Ethanol is Alcohol from Corn and it attracts/ absorbs water from the air. It will make your bike run like crap!

 

Just an idea to add to the above. A voltage drop from the battery will also dictate rpm's/performance.
