oil weight question
Hi All,
I have an older bike, a 82 440 LTD. The manual says the you can use any of the following oil weights:
10-40
10-50
20-40
20-50
This bike runs rough until it warms up. Does anyone have any recomendation on what would be the best oil choice? I live in north east PA, and never really ride in the winter.
George

ahh.. north east Pa.. like york?
a common weight seems to be 5 or 10-30..everyone likes that viscosity..
heavy enough to provide good wear and shear resistance in most temps, yet light enough to be able to allow cranking in cold weather..
you can run 10-40 tho.. i wouldn't really want to run any real heavy oil, personally...

i have 10w 50 in mine right now. but that's a full race synthic oil from respol. my bike runs well with it in it. i live in virginia so i would say 10w/30 to 10w/50 should be good.
