hello I need some advice on my ninja 1987 zx600r.First of all i will begin by letting you know that this ninja was stalled for some time and was running.I got it and tried to turn it over,it did krank at first,but then i noticed that the engine had no fire so i changed the coils and the wires.After i did this the engine would not turn so i figured it was the starter selinoid,so i replaced it,and no dice.Then i looked into the starter itself,i took it of and had it checked.Turned out to be good,i replaced it and there is were i am at still no turn (just klicks) Can someone tell me were to look into next? THANKS

 

Have you re-charged the battery? maybe replace it? Double check that the coils and wires go to the right cylinders, there is a particular firing order, however, since you are saying it just clicks, it sounds like you don't have enough juice from the battery. You can use a volt meter to check battery voltage and amps. It may have enough volts but is incapable of generating enough amps to start the bike.

 

hey, whats up with you.....if a bike that stays parked for a long time a couple of things can go wrong.....your bike is most likely carborated so you have gas that most likely has gone bad or your carb needs to be rejetted or cleaned, in other words something is not working with your fuel supply....when a bike stays put for long time its ussually something with the carb start there....check your floats and jets......good luck....

 

Battery check first to get rid of the clicking issue as techno mentioned. Then recheck your work with the coils and wires. You did not mention if the floats and the fuel system were drained before storage either tito.
