Default New 2007 ZX6R Help... clutch or throttle problem

I got my new bike about 3 months ago havent really riden it except up down block i had a small lowside drop no damage was going like 10mph. But I just finished my MSF so I decided to hit the road and go get gas But while riding my bike wont go over 20 mph what could the problem be..Its seems like the throttle works fine. I can shift gears but when i give it throttle still cant get over 20....Help I only have 30 miles on bike......[&:][&:][&:][&:]

Welcome to the forums. No slipping of the clutch, gears engage, throttle response is there?....The bike is not cutting out? And you cannot get over 20mph?

Man, that's strange... If the bike revs in neutral, but won't go over 20 under load I would have to think that he computer needs to be reflashed? I've never heard of this before... Hell I don't know I'm just guessing, some computers have a "safe" mode that they reset to if they are hit hard enough. I am not sure if motorcycle computers have a inertia sensor though.

The gears do engage i can go to to 1st,2nd, and 3rd....etc..and there is throttle response it just wont so over 20 and the bike doesnt cut off. I had a friend say the clutch may have slipped could that be it if so is the a fix that i can do without going to dealer..

You would be able to hear and feel if the clutch is slipping this badly I would think.

A simple question, does the engine rev freely in neutral or with the clutch pulled in?

What does everyone think about the petcock that suctions fuel from the tank into the carb?
(I'm not much of a mechanic).
My bike was losing power afterhaving gone a few miles, then it was fine after it sat for a bit It would be fine for a few miles, then it would lose power again to the point I wasn't sure I could make it up even small hills.
My mechanic "rebuilt" this piece it fixed the problem

Maybe that the 07 6r has a screen to block fuel when plugged. hell of a plug, so would mean bad gas/plug. But you are right, a restriction of any kind could be to blame. The ride is cutting out under a load. So checking gas pressure may be needed.

07 ZX6R isfuel injected. It should have a fuel pump. Could it be a bad fuel pump?

3 months old should still be under warrenty.

A fuel injected car with a bad fuel pump will idle and rev, but has no power under load.
Same should be true for a motorcycle.

Son bought an 07 Suzuki GSX-R600. Fuel injected, fuel pump, no petcock.

Just another thought.

Mike
