Unhappy Neutral Slipping to First gear

Greetings people, while I am driving the bike I noticed that when I come to a stop and change to neutral, the bike after a few seconds jumps to first gear. This has started happening recently and not always. I had changed the clutch oil (Valvoline ABS Brake fluid DOT 3/4) and Engine Oil(Mobil Synthetic 10W40 for Motorcycle).

Any thoughts...

Thanks

hmm, that is new to me. Go back to what you have changed, and take a peek at what may have been changed because of it.

I have never had a bike do that. Are you sure you are hitting neutral and not halfway between neutral and first, where it could put itself back into first?

This symptom has started occurring just recently, would Valvoline ABS brake oil in the clutch create this problem? Are there any specific clutch oil?

Nope, that wouldn't cause it. DOT4 brake fluid in the clutch resovoir.

How many miles do you have on your bike. This sounds like a shifter mechanism maulfunction.

I am not totally familiar with the 11 transmission, but my guess is a broken spring on the shifting forks, or a worn detent mechanism. I hope i am wrong because in either case, the motor will have to be disassembled to get to the problem.
Good luck Bro!

Shifter mechanism (called the gear change assembly) is external. usually behind the sprocket where the shifter rod goes in. If you pull the left side engine covers off, you'll get to it. The end of the shift drum has a "star" shaped cog on the end, that act like a ratchet, allowing 1 gear change at a time. When it drops to 1st on its own the neutral spot on the cog is worn out. ((( the cause of this is starting out hard in 1st, and slamming into 2nd, slowly rounding off then spot in the cog ))) Most racing starts in 2nd for the hole shot. That's 'cause the transmission components are all changing positions from 1st to 2nd, having to skip over neutral. that's alot of movement for such a high rpm.
Usually, all moves fairly well, creating just minimal damage,(clacking noise) which after 20K or so, starts to show.

so, take a look at the gear change assembly, and replace what looks worn. Don't forget new gaskets!!!! If every component was replaced, it'll still only be $100
