Neglected bike needs help!!
I have been in a job were travel is a must and i have been bad to my 2000 ZR750. I let it sit out in the weather for a year, neglected and mistreated. I have finally made time for my first baby and feel horrible about the condition she is in. I have drained the gas tank and cleaned it. It was full of rust and water mixed with gas. I have already etched it and relined it. Now I have another issue. I can not get the bike to start. I replaced the battery and spark plugs. The bike makes an electrical sound when the electric start is pressed but the engine dose not turn-over. I need help with this issue. The pistons are not seized and I did get water out of the spark plug holes while rocking the bike in gear. Any Ideas?

RE: Neglected bike needs help!!
I would say check the relay for the starter or the brushes in the starter are bad. When I had a starter problem I put direct power to the starter and it did nothing so I got a new one and it worked. Just so you know, when I pulled the starter I tested it with direct power and the shaft spun but my local shop said that when the brushes get to short it will not work with a load on it.

What kas said Also you will need to go thru the carbs. Varnish will gum up carbs when sitting for a long while. Its a PITA but the bike will run better in the long run.
