If you can find a good mechanic to help you, you can do it yourself, otherwise if your looking for a local shop we would have to know where you are first. Have fun with the build and welcome to KF!

Thanks guys for the welcome. I am looking for about 120hp. This will be a track bike. I made 104whp last time on the dyno. Wanting to do a built head and cams, about to order 1mm over-sized wiesco pistons. The motor has 29k on it but still runs like a champ. Doing everything from the tires to the helmet lol. Let me know any info that you guys have please please. willing to ship the motor to another state. Must be a good shop though. Thanks guys

Honestly if I were you and going that deep and tracking it as well, I would do it myself. You never know whats going to go wrong at the track, and if something needs to be fixed or adjusted its good to have that expertise yourself. Get a manual and a couple knowledgeable friends willing to work for beer and you can have it done yourself much quicker and unless you need some extra tools, it will be cheaper as well. Added bonus, when something does go wrong, you will have the tools and the knowledge to fix it on the spot instead of losing the entire weekend over a small issue. (track days arent cheap) The first build is always scariest because you cant imagine getting it all back together, but if you keep all the parts organised and keep track of where the connectors and hoses go you will be riding in no time. The only thing you probably cant do yourself is boring the cylinders but any machine shop should be able to handle that for you. If none of your friends know what they are doing, ask around at a local Bike night. I was able to barter with a local rider to teach me how to work on my ride, and I found its more about having the confidence to do it rather than the actual knowledge of how to do it. Good luck, and keep us informed. Nothing better than a good build thread with pics. *hint*

A 6r should make the 120hp range without the boring and replating. Not sure if the cylinders would hold a 1mm overbore anyways. You will need to have all of your details jotted down for the builder as well. What cam degree would you prefer? mid range, top end, that kind of thing. Normally, an ecu swap with programming, head gasket swap, exhaust swap with the cam timing fine tuning is all you should need. Good luck

you want the 05-06 zx6rr cams, they are the kawi race cams for the 03-04 636, also with the mods done to my bike i put down 120.8 rwhp on pump gas, motor is bone stock & the bike has been 6.70's in the 1/8...

Just a thought, so don't get all upset, but why not look at buying a bike that has already been built for the track? I bet you would save all kinds of money and time. I'm sure there are some really nice, fast, and well built bikes for sale out there if you look. I saw in the "Roadracing World" magazine a couple months ago the M4 EMGO Suzuki 2008 GSX-R600 Supersport bike for sale for around $14,000. It had an AMA Supersport spec engine and every single after market goody on it you can imagine. The best part is that you know it was built by professional mechanics who know their stuff! They were just upgrading to the newer bikes. Still want to do it yourself, and likely spend a fortune doing it? Good! You might want to check out www.35motorsports.com (317) 850-3884 They offer affordable engine building services for racers and track riding enthusiasts. Good luck, and keep us posted!
