Default Need to Diagnose a Problem: Fuel? Electricity?

Took the '81 KZ 7590 LTD out for a spin today (it's 35 degrees here) which I try to do very weekend - to keep things running throughout the winter months. It was fine last weekend when I gassed up and put in a little "Stabil".
Now she's "missing" when I throttle up for power
Idling beautifully/cruising nicely
Only happens when I try to accelerate
What do I check first?
How do I determine if it's fuel or electricity?
Any relatively "simple" diagnostics anyone can recommend?

Thanks

Hhhmm...

well, sparkies are the easiest solution to helpdifferentiate between electrical and fuel... if it acts silly with new plugs, i'd go next to the coils, and meter them, and check everything ignition related (points on that model?)

next up, if all is in spec, i'd check the jetting and cleanliness of the carbs, air filter, and fuel filter (if equipped). carbed bikes hate the cold, so theres a good chance that perhaps your problem was induced by the cold *** cold us east-coasters are experiencing...
those are the very basics.. good luck and keep us posted!

MIne is not jetted for the cold weather so it "lags" if I try to snap the throttle. Probably the same problem you are having.
