RE: Lubing Throttle Cable
The tool bolts around the cable and cable sleeve effectively making a seal. There's a small rubber port on the side that you stick the straw of your lube aerosol can. Then all you have to do is spray lube into the cable tool. It's very easy, and if you want, I can take some close-up pics to show you how it's done when I do my cables.

It's nice to hear you're doing your own maintenance. this is always the best way to learn about your ride. I'm thinking about lubing the Ninja's cables tonight. If I do, I'll bring the camera with me.

Ok, here we go...
You first need to unscrew the cable sleeve from the lever.
Remove the sleeve and set it aside.
Here you can see the aerosol straw in the cable lube tool. Notice the soft rubber center is split so you can get your cable in there.
This is what the assembly looks like before attaching it to the cable.
You will need to clamp the cable inside to seal it shut. Notice the inside rubber sleeve of the lube tool is wider at the bottom to allow the cable tube to shut within it.
Spray the lube into the cable tool and that's it! VERY VERY simple!

RE: Lubing Throttle Cable
There is another type of tool which resembles a large metal syringe with a similar rubber sealing fit over the end of the cable. A T piece handle is turned and this forces lubricant down the length of the cable. Much more effective than the spray ( as it forces the lubricant along the whole length of the cable) but more expensive.
