I have a 1990 zx6 and i want to lower it. i think the zx14 lowering links will work in the back since i cant find any dogbones for my bike. but my only concern is lowering the front since my only real optiion is straps.... Are they safe to use on the highway? and how long do they last? please help

Welcome to the forums man!
I can't help you much on what you are wanting to know, I'm not a big fan of lowering bikes. Me personally, I wouldn't strap for an everyday cruiser. Spend the money, set the suspension to your weight and riding style.
I bet someone can help you better than me tho! lol
Good luck man, enjoy your stay.

Couldnt you slide the forks down to lower the front? The straps will kill your rebound and are only good for launching at the drag strip. Have you set your sag/preload for your weight? Typically that will give you enough drop to make it comfortable and will actually improve the handling of the ride, unlike the straps which will limit your cornering and give you a rougher ride.

can i slide the forks down eventhough my bars are right on top of the forks? on all of my friends bikes they can do it, but their forks come through the tripple tree and allowthe forks to be adjusted and lowered. I was told the only way is to strap the front end...

straps are not intended to use on a everyday commuteing bike, if you can;t slide the forks up thru the tripple trees then i would just leave it alone, because the strap will blow out your fork seals in no time... also you will need lowering links for a zx6r not a zx14 if your wantin to lower the rear...

^What he said.
I looked up the schematic and looks like your right, the forks cant slide up without modifying the bars, which would change your riding position, if you can even do it in the first place. Good luck!
