Default KX125 will not kick start first up

My Son has a KX125 - 1999 that we spend a lot of money on to ensure the bike is running as best as possible. He races aginst 2006 250F's, etc and still gets podium finishes, this gives an indication of how well the Kwaka runs. Problem is the bloody bike will not start first up, we must prime it first (small amount of fuel in the barrel) then it starts normal for the rest of the day, no problems. The carby, like everything else has been stripped & cleaned many times. The bike is stock except a full pro circuit exhaust system and dual reeds.
I hope this is not just an Aussie problem! LOL

Any ideas will be welcome, in any case thanks mates.

That is strange... I don't know. Maybe somebody will have a clue.... It won't start on full choke? Is the cable engaging the choke. Maybe the cable is broke? On my bike, I have to choke her in the mornings, and the rest of the day it's fine...

GL man...

Good try mate, but no good, the bike runs well after I prime it, no problems for the rest of the day, starts first/second kick with choke.
When hot starts without choke.

The only problem is first kick start for the day.

Thanks bigrig18wheeler

Could just be getting enough wear and tear on it that you just don't have quite as good of compression you used to have. Or, maybe just need some new plug(s) in it.

hey les, with the reeds and pc pipe, what jets are you running ? an over oiled air filter on a 2 stroke will choke it up a bit. on the carb, make sure you didnt over extend the choke. if you remove the filter and see its wet in the plenum with filter oil, that can very well be a problem. 2 more things. 1. check your compression and 2 check your spark. my kx 125 would allways fire up 1 kick like it was ready to go, my 250 was a 2 kicker.

Thanks guys, found the problem. The throttle cable was out of adjustment by a long way. Adjusted it back to Kwaka specs and fired up first kick. End of problem.
Once again from downunder. Thanks.
