Kind of chugging 2001 9R

chugging
"Chugging" love that word but hate it on the bike. Anyhoo, removed tank, tried the petcock in all three positions and gas just poured out in all three. (carburettor bike btw)So no "OFF" But I can live with that. Checked all the vacuum hoses, jets, etc made sure all pipes were tight put everything back together and went for a ride.......chug chug chug still. Any gear except top, I can not maintain any set speed without it chugging .This makes the bike a pain to sit behind a car, in a lower gear, at a constant speed, ready to overtake. Anymore suggestions ? Could it still be the plugs even though it never misfires ? Always starts first push of button. What if choke is stuck open a little ? Just fishing coz I am out of ideas.

Dang! What do the plugs look like? (I'm guessing rich? Any smoke with the chug-chug?) If this is one of those "vacuum-on" type of petcocks---like the old 2-stroke triples---they SUCK!!! Maybe having some trouble with the diaphragm in the petcock? (Personally, I would get rid of the petcock if it's a vacuum-type. I hate them THAT much!! Find one from an older 9 and see if it bolts up. Turn "on" when you run, turn "off" when you stop. A good habit to get into anyway, IMHO.) Let me talk with a buddy of mine...standby.

Rebuild the petcock assembly and clean the filter while you are in there.

chugging
No smoking from the exhaust at all. Not vacuum type petcock. Have not pulled the plugs as no misfiring or bad idling or anything like that.So tomorrow will pull the tank and remove the petcock and check filters. Will up date when finished and tested.

Well filters are clean, gas flow is fine, still chugging along. So what's next ? Sorry to be testing you guys to the limit. But this is something I have not encountered before, on any bike I have owned and it is p*****g me off to be stumped for a solution.Usually I can fix things on my own or with help from people like you, but this has me stumped.
