Just so you all know. From Kawasaki

How do I get a key code?
The only place that the key code can be found is on the original key or key tag. We recommend contacting the original selling dealer, since many dealers record this information when preparing new Kawasaki products for sale. Unfortunately we have no way of providing a key code corresponding to your V.I.N. number.

I wanted a spare key made for my 500R and the dealer heretold me to get a number off the ignition module (the cylinder thingy I think). I never followed through with it yet.

wow, you dealt with a stone age dealership then? I am not sure why the dealership has some info but yet not all. Your info should have been recorded and made available.

edit: to you that is

Just another reason to relocate an ignition on-off and forget the key!
