I goofed - leaking tach cable

I have a 1987 454 LTD - still in great shape and pretty much all original as I bought it. Today it started leaking oil from the tach - seems to be at the top connection or up inside of the tach housing - hard to tell. Is there a seal that can be replaced or might it be a plugged crankcase vent? I've inspected the cable sheath for cracks or dry rot and don't see any. In looking at the cable end I don't see any remains of a seal. I can't seem to find a repair manual for the 21 year old bike. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

i'm still gonna have the same response..lol
i'd run it without the cable hooked up.. if thers oil shooting out, then you might have a plugged breather and/or bad seal..
good luck man!

Ready??
There is a seal on the connection at the motor. Where the cable connects to the motor, that threaded fitting has a bolt that holds it in place. remove the bolt and pull it out. you'll then see the leaking seal (looks like an o-ring). Get the new o-ring, put it on, and re-install.
Then:
check the crankcase breather hoses for clogs or restrictions. If the pressure in the motor can't escape, it'll force its way out. Usually at the weakest spot, like a tiny little o-ring.
