how to replace brake and clutch levers?

got some new levers 4 xmas. is it as simple as unbolting 1 and replacing or will i end up having to bleed the brakes ? will the cables try and retract . called my shop and asked how much to put em on 4 me and he said bout 20min labor but said it in a way that suggested im a dumb *** and should be able to do myself.. not very mechanicaly inclined adjusting my chain and the ocasional bolt on part is about it.any1 out there done it with advice?thanks would hate to havta take it in2 him now

The levers are external of any hydraulics. No bleeding is necessary. Pretty much the same for a cable operated lever. (one end on a cable). And one bolt to remove and replace. You can do it!

Dude you'r not a dumb a$$, They're your breaks. A dumb A$$ is someone that just charges in thinking that he knows all about breaks and goes splat. This procedure is one of the few on a bike that really is as easy as it looks.

thanks i give it a go wont b able to test em 4 a while its -2*f 2day with snowy roads but it gives me a little quality time with my ride even if i gotta wear my snowsuit to do it gotta new winshield to but gonna wait 4 it to warm up some dont wanna crack that new plastic. i really gota find a new shop 4 repairs mine sux and every time it goes in its at least 400 bucks 1 way or another last time they changed front tire they replaced brake pads said no extra labor cuz wheel was already off but you guessed it they charged me again anyway and now my bike doesnt track straight when i let go of bars. best shop near me is a yamaha shop think im gonna c if they work on mine thanks 4 da encouragement think they will look good they are carbon look will go good with the other carbon parts soon to come

thanks all it was easy had to go buy a thin walled socket to reach the clutch bolt but everything went smooth they look great and even better they work fine got to do my first ride of the year yesterday thanks again 4 the advice im not sure i woulda tried without it
