Much easier than you think.

Just take off the tank (make sure you turn off the petcock valve on it first), undo the vacuum and fuel lines, remove the throttle cable, and loosen the carb boots.

Then, you wiggle the hell out of the carbs until you get them out!

Easy as pie! [8D]

One more thing, get a carb synchronizer for when you reinstall the carbs.

Take a digital picture of the carb while it is still hooked up so incase you forget where all the vac lines ect go.

also you can post pics with your help questions and it hmake it easier for other to give there advice.

Good luck, its not that hard.

I also like labeling any lines. Piece of colored tape or just writing onto the tape works as well.

taking off the tank looks like it would require taking the petcock off with the tank, its 2 separate units........the petcock is not located on the tank itself but over abit on the frame.

and for the intake boots, i remember taking off the carbs on my GSX750, and they were a real bitch to seat back in....lol......ack

and how necessary is syncronizing the carbs, all i want to do is spray the hell out of them to see if maybe that is why the bike wont start since the guy didnt drain the carbs before letting it sit for 2++ months

if your carbs arent sync'd your bike will run like crap and possibly not start.

9 out of 10 times, no. any time you mess with the rack, you might as well resync it. its not hard to do so get use to it. i made it routine to to check the carbs every 2 weeks on my zx7 and every time i checked it i had to make a few adjustments. my 7 allways ran like a champ, except for when i blew out the intake on it and had to keep it above 5000 rpm's or it would die. to this day i still dont think that cop believes me.

I wonder if that petcock isn't an add-on if it's not directly on the tank. Either way, you'll find a way to work around it.

And yes, when you remove the carb assembly, all the wiggling will offset the throttle plates a little bit. Re-syncing the carbs is a very standard procedure. Once you do it, you'll wonder why you even hesitated in the first place.
