Didn't mean to sound like an a@@, but if you are digging into something this much the Factory Service Manual is the way to go. Trying to explain engine removal online would be a tough one and I would feel bad if I may have forgotten something, or if you did not understand what I was trying to say.

Dragone's right; get the manual.
However, the abbreviated version is: Get bike on front stand/rear stand. Remove plastic, Remove gas tank. Disconnect darn near everything, including throttle linkage, chain and exhaust. Drain the engine oil. (If memory serves me..) Roll your floor jack with a board with a drain hole cut-out --just to accomodate the bolt head) under the engine, to take the pressure off when you disconnect the bolts. You may want to have a friend handy when you unbolt the motor from the frame. Unbolt front frame downtubes. Carefully unbolt the rear of the motor near the swingarm pivot area.Engine should be free. Roll very carefully out from under the frame. Your friend and youpick up the motor and put it onto the bench.
Like Dragone said though, if you're getting in this deep, follow the manual. I'm just sitting here recalling how I did my 9 motor. They should be very similar.

Dang, about the only thing different that I did was by raising the front/supporting the ride with straps from the rafters. hahaha Right on Jeff
Floor jacks, jack stands, plywood for the jack, straps are great to have. Of course keeping all of the bolts organized and marking hoses and cablesare always a plus.
