Default HELP!!!! Ca emissions conversion

i have a 2002 zx6r, ca model. does anybody out there know how to convert the emissions so it will run as a non california model. I have tried a lot of things. I have a surge at about 6000 rpm's and i cant get rid of it. i am missing some ca pieces so i am converting it to a non ca model. i bought a jet kit and it helped but the surge is still there. i have a feeling it might be vacuum some where. if anybody has any ideas or has converted a ca to non ca let me know please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Default RE: HELP!!!! Ca emissions conversion

I've done this to my bike and it solved a flooding problem that had to do something with the Vacuum valve. When I bought the bike, it had the canister removed and everything plugged off that came from the Vaccum valve and Gas tank breathers.

The Kawasaki emission setup seems to be identical between bikes, so is you see a picture that looks different than your bike just worry about your hardware.

You will either need to purchase or customize the hose that comes from the Air Flow Filter located in front of the tripple tree to connect it directly to the carburetor 'top tube" I just ordered the non-California top tube and hose from Ron Ayers fro $25.

When all is complete, you will have to plug off the hoses that come from the rear intake ports that connect to the Vacuum Switch and vacuum valve. Number 2 Cylinder hose, cut off but leave enough on to stick an 8mm bolt in and clamp off. The hose that is joined at #1 & #4 and just disconnect near the switch or valve (cannot remoember which one it connects to) and put another 8mm bolt in there and run the hose somewhere that it's not in the way. The hose that runs to the airbox, Just plug off the airbox. I used a cap that came off of the Vacuum switch and tape it off real good.

If you have any questions on any of this, let me know.

i will check some of these ideas out. if anybody else has any ideas please let me know. right now i still have the kleen hooked up, but i have a yoshi slip on, factory jet kit, 3rd clip down on needles, 3 turns out fuel screws, and 160 main jets on 1,4 and 162.5 on 2,3. still have a big surge at about 6000 rpm, but when i switch the needle clip to position 4 it gets better, i might try clip5 but doesnt that seem weird. have you ever heard of using the 5th or 6th clip position?
