Default Help on a 1988 EX500

Hi guys i bought an 88 ex500 as my first bike. it was $400 and not running when i got it. i brought it home and looked it over and found the fule line was kninked just after the gas tank. i re-routed the line and drove it for a few weeks with no problems.

now it will not run correctly. it starts when choked revs up to arround 7000 for about ten seconds then drops down to 2000 and soon after dies. if i hit the throttle to keep it alive then it immideatly dies.

any sugestions would be great
thanks
-Jeff

sounds like dirty carbs. but try not to let it rev that high on start up, not good for the motor. did you tune it up yet? did you drain the old gas out before you ran it? oh welcome to KF

yes, dirty carbs and yes do not rev at idle. 7k rpms is not the best for the engine internals for 10 seconds.
