Default Fuel Types????

Just curious if most bikes take regular unleaded or premium? I have an 01 zr7-s that has no owners manual, and there is no stickers to indicate fuel type. I know if you run 91 octane in a car that is designed to run on regular then it will cause carbon buildup on the pistons and valves b/c it burns slower. Is it the same with a bike? The bike is completely stock.

Run premium for a tank or two, then check your plugs. What color deposit under normal riding conditions? Also, check your exhaust; if you have a bunch of carbon build-up around the tailpipe (which you should also see evidence of on the plugs) then try some regular. Personally? I run regular fuel with some Chevron Techron mixed, about every other tank.

I run regular in the ZRX and the ZX-11. Never any problems
