fork oil and air to 82 kz750CSR
Hello fellow riders, I'm trying to find out what weight of fork oil to use as well how much is needed and what the air pressure should I put in on my 1982 KZ 750 CSR Twin motorcycle forks. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and ride safe. ( William )

An option many riders use for suspension fluid in their forks is ATF....automatic transmission fluid. Depending on where you look or who you ask, Mobil 1 synthetic ATF is equivalent to 10w fork oil. ATF has anti foam agents in it, detergents, seal conditioners and is designed to withstand heat....and fork fluid gets plenty hot. Nothing magic about "proper" fork fluid. The rider that can discern the difference on that suspension system can also ride over a dime and tell you if it was heads or tails up. More modern suspensions are much more fluid viscosity sensitive.
If you removed the forks and did a good job of rinsing them out and let them hang upside down and drain until dry, you'll need 331ml of fluid, 300 if you simply pulled a bottom plug and let 'er flow out. Recommended air pressure is 7-10 lbs. Save yourself some agony with airing the forks. It is easiest to simply over fill by a few pounds and then release a smidgen at a time from the Shrader valves until you reach an equal amount on each fork.
