Default Engine replacement

Hi guys

Im new to this forum, so I hope I am posting in the right place....

I have a Kawasaki zx10r 1990 model.
The problem is that I have only half and engine and cannot seem to find a replacement of the same size.

What year 1000cc Kawasaki engine will fit into the frame.
The bike is complete just needs an engine....

Any help or info will be greatly appreciated..

Peace

Welcome, Ninja. Not sure what your availability of gently used engines may be in Pretoria, but I have HEARD that a "B" model ZX9 engine can be used in a pinch. Yes, yes....not exactly an even swap, however, they are bullet-proof and will still make you giggle. Double-check your mounting point dimensions before you buy ANYTHING other than a direct replacement.
Glad to have you with us. Let us know what you can find!

Thanx Jeff.

I will have a look for that, I might be able to get a TL 1100 model that might fit but also do not want to pay for it then when I get home it doesn't...

Thanks again for the help.

Do you think late model 1000cc engines will fit?

My "knee-jerk" response, is probably not. Most of the newer engines are more narrow. (Which might lead to some issues with alternator/starter/output sprocket alignment.) You want to stay with carburetors, right? If not, you'll get into wiring harness/brainbox conversion. I'd probably stick with an engine from a "twin front down-tube frame" setup (I THINK your 10 is set-up that way, right?) Otherwise, you'll have engine stress problems.
Like I said......I'm sitting at work.....just thinking in my head.......

Which half is still good?
