Default DMP S-SPEC Steel Head Lift Stand for a ZX9R 2000'

I had purchased a DMP S-Spec head lift stand so I could use it with my rear stand to get the bike off the cement during winter storage. The way the stand is setup, I cannot get the bar underneath the fairing nose without interference to lift it up. I had called the Bussiness that sells these stands and they told me that I may have to remove the lower part of the nose.

I notice on the lower of the nose there are (3) phillips head screw type things, but actually are called rivets.

Does anyone know the trick to getting these loose or off?

Thanks!

could you get a closer picture of the piece your talking about? if they are rivets you could use a drill bit to make a hole in the rivets... that will cause them to come loose and beak apart....

I forgot to metion that this is a 2000' ZX9R.

Th nose of the fairing has (3) plastic screw type connectors which Kawasaki calls rivets in there exploded parts picture. I've unscrewed these for quite a few turns and nothing seems to happen, they don't seem to be turning out.

Here are some pictures of the are I looking at.

To tear a ride apart just to lift it is insane.

I think I'll have to purchase their adapters to convert this to a fork lift stand and keep the upper half in case I need it.

I just got the same Spec headstand for Xmas. I've got an 05 ZZR600, which is the same as the 00-02 ZX6R, and the front end looks a lot like yours, i.e. similar air scoop/etc. I found that in order to get the stand in I had to either:

A. Slide the headstand pin out of the stand slightly in order to position the stand just right, then slide everything into place very carefully, reinserting the headpin and the lockpin after everything was in place, then pushing down the stand to lift the bike. This was a bitch to do w/o rubbing the stand on the front fender.

OR, BETTER -

B. Turn the handlebars all the way to one side, the slowly feed the stand (no need remove the pin in this case) as I straighten the handlebars and arrange the stand just right.

Either way, it is more difficult than I thought it'd be, but not so much trouble that it's not worth using, and I get better with practice. Let me know how it works out for ya!

I will give this a try. I know it's a very tight fit and I ran into the same problem with the fender getting rubbed on, there's just not real much room in there. For the pin, I thought of the same thing with the pin, to put it in after the lift bar is in. I didn't think that it would go back in though, so I gave up. I guess I didn't have as much patience as you.

It also looked like the pin may not need be as long as it is? I cut it off about half way to have clearance with the nose of the fairing, hopefully it will still reach the hole? There was about 2 1/2" to 3" of the pin insert which I didn't think it needed to be that long, hope I'm right.

Thanks, I'll let you know if that works.

It Worked! Thank You!!!

I was worried with the lift arm making contact with the fender a little, I did put a rag underneath.

When I turned the handle bars a little, I also had the lift a little angle too. But once I started lift, there was clearance all the way around.

Thank You for the tip, it made my day!

Sweet! I'm glad the time I spent working out my frustration helped someone else... I had to just put it down and step away from it at least 2 different days before I found the patience to just make it work. [:@]

I didn't even think of putting down a rag on the fender, I'll definately do that from now on!

It still doesn't seem quite as easy as it _should_ be, but it's a hell of a lot better than having to take anything apart just to use the stand. Especially those rivets! Maybe you should call that guy at Spec back and tell them how to use their own product!

I bought one from LP.. and i have to remove my lower fender
in order for it not to do any damage.. dont know if that would help you get
more clearance to slide the pin under?
