carburator blues

Default carburator blues

1998 vulcan 800...sat for a long time(woulnt start)...had the carb cleaned...it runs,but rough...low end in every gear is rough...and i get gas in my air cleaner and sometimes exaust.....bike allways smells gassy...is it time for a new carb?and where is the best place to purchase???

Check your filters and vacuum lines, make sure you have fresh high octane gas and run a few tanks through it and see if it smoothes out, sometimes it takes a while to get all the gunk out. Make sure you check all the fuel lines as well, if its a strong gas smell you may have a leak somewhere, dont want to turn into a fireball. Good luck and welcome back to KF!
