carb trouble again
I bought a 2000 zrx 1100 2 yrs ago and six week later it wasnt running very well it wouldnt rev past 4000 rpm and would stall under load. I brought it to a local shop they told me carbs were gunked up and gas kept flowing when bike wasnt running and found its way all the way to the crankcase. I had them clean and rebuild the carburetors and bike ran good.. but if I let it sit a couple of weeks it would sputter until I took it up to high way speeds and clear up.Today I went to go for a ride and the bike was back to square one? bike wouldnt run right ,opened oil cap and smelled gas in oil? I am going to rebuild the carburetors myself and would appreciate any advice in steps to prevent this from happening again, thank you, Jimmy.C

change out the float needles. Then verify float height prior to install.. If you can, check the carb synch after install.
not bad mouthing your local shop, but float needles go bad after a while. Your shop should be able to put those in at minimal cost now that you have already used their services. Have them synch that puppy while your bike is in their hands.
