Blue/white exhaust smoke

Blue/white exhaust smoke
I have an 89 ninja 500. Sometimes it randomly dies out when I'm at a dead stop, and I'll find gas in the left carb. But then I just start it back up and it'll run fine for a while. The other day I changed the oil in it, and ran it around for about an hour fine. Today I go to start it, and white/blue smoke is coming out the back in abundance. I can't figure out what's going on. Also, when I turn the bike of, a little bit of white (maybe blue and white, not enough to tell) comes out of the exhaust still. I can't get the choke all the way off because it'll die out. Please help. Thanks in advance.

RE: Blue/white exhaust smoke
White smoke generally equals blown head gasket. Even blue smoke which means you're burning oil could be from the result of a blown head gasket also. But before freaking out about that possibility, get your carbs in good running order first. It's best to look at the known problems before really tearing into it.
