Blowing 30amp main fuse with rpm when hot
Heres a weird one - 96 ninja 250 - Today i was riding along, out of nowhere everything shuts off, motor dies, no lights no nothing.
Found the 30amp main fuse blown. so on the side of the road i changed the fuse, dug around at some of the wires, didnt find anything obvious.
Started right up, idled fine, as soon as it revved over 5k it smoked the fuse again. Tried one more fuse, same thing 5k - dead.
So we just hauled it home. now that its cold and sat i ran it for about 10 minutes in the garage and its been fine - with a 10amp fuse in place of the 30 - just to see if it would kill it quicker, but its still running.
So im lost on where to look or what to test as to what could be shorting when it gets hot causing the main fuse to blow.

Ok ill give that a look... as soon as i figure it out.
im a good self mechanic, but not up to par on the electrical system of bikes at all.
Its being stubborn, i ran it for 45 minutes today and cant get it to act up again. My first thought was the HID headlight, but i had that off the second and 3rd time it blew the fuse.

Just to keep up on this, i found a wire that rubbed through and was arcing on the frame. It was not tied back with the rest like it should have been, and out by itself. No idea why it would only arc after it ran for a while, just one of those freak things. But its fixed now.
