bikes been sittin for almost 25 yrs.
hey guys/gals. (sorry for the long post) my dad's got a 1980 kz1000ltd, and hasn't run it since probably july of '84. me and my brother are taking up fixing it this summer and seein if we can't get it back on the road this year. im VERY new to the bike world. we've been slowly tearing it apart and seeing what we need to replace, clean, fix, etc. so far we took off the petcock(which is no good) and removed the air intake hoses leading to the carb, taken the carbs apart and cleaned them, drained oil and cleaned oil pan, rusteco'd the gas tank, drained the brake fluid and lastly we removed the bird's nest from under the seat. haha
anyways, besides the obvious stuff (plugs, tires, brakes) is there anything else i should be aware of that i may need to go over with a fine toothed comb? are there typical issues w/ a bike that's been sittin this long?
thanks alot for any of your responses. any help will be greatly appreciated!! [8D]

Welcome to KF!
Check those carb boots and all rubber components. They are all prolly cracked from age. Enjoy the education/experience on this ride.
