bike won't start
New female rider.Bought my first bike last summer. 2008 Ninja 250. Only put 300 miles on it. Put in controlled temp storage, filled with fuel and removed battery to put on charger. Just put battery in and bike sounds like it wants to start but doesn't.

Hmmmmmm, welcome to the forums. On a normal carburated bike all we have to do is to drain the gas out of the bowl, introduce new gas and it fires right up. I don't know anything about your engine. But what I do know is that there are a lot of good people on this site that will be on shortly to help you out. Again welcome to the forums and stick around, we don't have too many female riders on here.

I agree, drain the fuel and replace with fresh fuel. Gasoline starts going bad very quickly now days.
And just for future reference, make sure you add some fuel stabilzer in the future if the bike is going to sit for long periods.
Oh and welcome

+50 million.
theres 2 tiny little screws on the VERY bottom of the carbs.. those are float drains.. if theres water in there, it'll be sitting right there onthe other side of that screw.. as well, gas degrades from 93 to 89 in 4 days.. or something like that.. i just got done cleaning a set of carbs for an ST1100 that i thought had been dipped in green paint. those were the WORST carbs i ever saw in all my years of working on bikes. i doubt yours are that bad, but it's absolutely amazing what gas does when it ages.
welcome to KF!! and i'll try not to hit on you.

Thank you to everyone for your response. Sorry, i was out of town the last 10 days. I have looked through my book and all around that bike and I'm not sure where to drain the gas. While I am not mechanically knowledgeable, I'm not afraid to try. I will not have anyone avail. to come help me until next week. And no, I didn't put fuel stabilizer in because I took the battery out and remembered after I left the storage. I won't forget again. Let you know if your tips work ASAP.
