Bike shuts off
07 Kawasaki Ninja Zx6r
I have about 2246 miles. I will ride around for 30 minutes or so and my bike will turn off while I'm riding. It turns on right away and I'll ride for a little more, then the bike will turn off again but start up right away. My oil looks a bit high. Could that be the problem?? I don't think its the kick stand switch, but I could be wrong. Please let me know what you guys think!
Thanks!

Do you run any mods on the ride? The tank been taken off in the 2246 miles?
Good luck and welcome to KF.

I bought the bike from a dealer at 2100 miles. There is something with the tank cap. Every time I get done riding my bike, even if its a short ride, and I turn it off, there is air trying to release from the tank cap. I would usually just open the cap and let the air out. Can I do something to permanently stop this tank problem?...Also, I have no mods on the bike. Its stock everything.

There will be some air pressure heard if the cap seal is in good condition through the tank. Guess that I was asking if you still have the stopping problem with the cap loose on the tank during the ride. And if not, check for a pinched vent hose.

Actually, I suspect the air is trying to get IN to the tank; not out. One solution would be to drop a few bucks on a trick aftermarket gas cap. Our sponsors could help you with one, I'm sure. Direct, bolt-on installation. First, I'd track down all your vent tubes (like Drag suggests^) and make sure your tank cap/gasket are in good shape. If your bike runs just fine with the stock cap loosened, there's your culprit. Stay OE or drop a few bucks for new. One caveat: some aftermarket caps have weak O-rings which will deform and get loose over time. Might require a trip to Ace/True Value (or hardware store) to buy a replacement ring for a few pennies. Easy fix, though.
