Default bike was running great and then just completely dided

i have a 2004 ninja 250 that i just did a motor swap on and was running cherry. I got inspected and tagged today and no more than hour a later it just died. I know the battery is good and the motor will turn over if you put a screw driver on the sileniod but it just seems like there is some kind of safety feature that is letting it from actually getting juice from the battery. when i turn the key on, nothing lights up on the cluster. does anybody have any suggestions? I just cant afford to take it to a mechanic right now.

May want to check your sidestand cut-off switch, for starters (sorry about the pun.)
Check your ground(s) and wiring that may have gotten pinched when you did the swap. After that, check the more difficult stuff, main fuse, ignition switch, handlebar cut-off switch, etc. Get out the meter and start checking lines to see which ones are good and which ones may be causing trouble. It's time-consuming stuff, so plug in the radio and don't get impatient. Many of us have been there.
Welcome to the forums, by the way! Keep us posted on your progress. We'll help if we can.
Gear up; stay safe.

As mentioned, check your main fuse and look for any pinched wires. Good luck

I checked all of the fuses and as many of the wires as i could. I will do a thorough inspection today of them. Would the stator cause this problem? that was the only thing that i had to take off of my old engine and put on the new one. I know it has to be something small but it just irritates me i finnaly got tags and this happens lol. oh well. thanks guys for your feedback. I'll keep you updated.
BTW- do mechanics use a diagnostic tool on bikes like they do for cars?

They kind of do now, with mapping the injection curves. Give them a couple more years, and we'll all need OBD readers to fix our bikes; just a matter of time.

well guys thank you for all your input. I got the bike running again this afternoon. it was the connector from the ignition switch. when i reassembled the bike i put the tank on top of the wires and when i turned the handlebars it disconnected. i guess just a nooby mistake. but again thanks for your help.
