Hello everyone

I just bought a beautiful 83 gpz 750, I have a battery question
the previous owner put a new battery in the bike and it starts fine and the light and signals and stuff work.
Theres a red light that flashes on the instrument console and my gas gage doesn't register and the battery bar is flashing on the fuel console.Oh ya the electronic tach is slow to respond.
Please excuse me if this is hard to understand,, the seller told me he didn't
get the battery specifically for this bike ,he said it was missing something that would make all that stuff work, I didn't really understand what he was talking about,,I assume its something that comes with a new gpz battery I don't know?
This is the newest bike I've ever owned,,my 78 kz650 is gonna sit for awhile
Any help would be great

Scott, welcome to the forums and congrats on the '83! Just so I'm clear; the bike starts and runs OK, but these lights and gauges are flashing or otherwise not acting like they should? AND, THE BATTERY IS THE WRONG ONE? Double check for the correct battery application (Dennis Kirk online, anywhere..) and get the correct battery. I don't think the SELLER understood what he was talking about, either.
After you get the right battery, we'll see how that changes things.
