now you've got me really confused!!!! sorry - i must be annoying you by now - i'm the ultimate n00b - what do you mean by cs and rear sprocket setup? how has that changed based on the new kit and how would it get set back?
god i wish i knew what i was doing!!!
would you mind giving me a step by step on what i need to do to get back to how the bike was before it went into the shop? what kit i need, what i can do myself, what i need to tell the shop i want done etc.
sorry i know it's asking a lot!

no prob. I must be speaking on a different level still.
CS= Counter Sprocket (on the front of the motorcycle, the small one normally around 16 teeth under a cover on the engine)
Rear sprocket = the larger one (normally) attached to the rear wheel
Your manual should list your front and rear sprocket size (number of teeth) used for your application.
Use the same math for the most part with pulleys or chain mechanics. The driver or the driven. Going to a smaller CS by one tooth is almost like adding 4 teeth to the rear sprocket. Normally the CS is cheaper to buy. Are we on the same page yet?

right - well looking at my owners manual there is nothing that actually says sprocket size (lol i'm guessing it's not that obvious? or now i am showing that i'm utterly thick!!!!) BUT comparing numbers that i have on the repair invoice:
in the manual it says that my final reduction ratio is 46/15
and on the service repair invoice it has this sentence:
(Changed gearing to 14/46 due to rear sprocket being unavailable)
does this mean that pre-repair my sizes were:
CS: 15
RS: 46
and now they are
CS: 14
RS: 46
would this explain to you and me why i now have a top speed of 50mph instead of the previous 75mph? as i now have one tooth less on the CS?
if what i'm saying is correct does that mean i just have to buy a CS that has 15 teeth and everything will be back to how it was pre-repair?
(and if what i've just said is correct then thanks for teaching me a bit of basic motorbike mechanics!! and if what i've just said is yet again completely wrong then GOD I AM REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY SORRY!!!!!!!! i must be draining your paitence by now)

yep, the numbers match your concern on your ride. Go back to the 15 tooth CS if that is what made ya happy.

I can see where that was abit confusing. Thanks for showing us, helped me out.

just to update, i got the new front sprocket today - fitted it within half an hour (it was allen bolted on - which had i known i would have done it myself in the first place!) and the bike is now back to it's former glory!!!
can't believe the bike shop charged me £140 for all this! - definately getting me a factory manual now and starting to do more myself
thanks for all the help and advice Dragone, you've saved me a lot of grief!!!!
