Yellow, did it not want to start BEFORE you "went through the carbs?" In my opinion, using starter fluid is a "last resort" kinda deal, for a variety of reasons. (Of primary concern, is that the ether eliminates the oil in the cylinders during pre-ignition.) Sounds like somebody left gas in the carbs and the crud is plugging your primaries. (Did you clean the tiny "holes" in the jets?) You're using SF as a substitute for the "choke" process. Pull your primaries and find some very very small wire to clean them. If you're sure they're clean, then set them accordingly.

I agree with this 100%

You need to clean those Pilot jets very very very good. You may have to go back in to make sure its done. If gas was sitting in the bowls for long (Sometimes as little as a month) they will gum up everything.

Take your time. Also, I would stop using starter fluid. Get it cleaned and you will be good.

I think that my zx7 slow speed screws are at 2.25 turns for sea level.
