87 kz305 carb issues?
just picked up a 1987 kawasaki kz305 for $150 as a project. it needed gas tank, headlight, battery, and tailight, and some tuning.... so the day i picked it up i ripped the carbs apart to find a little gunk in each and the valve needles sticking. so after cleaning i got them nice and healthy again. i took the gas tank the guy gave me for it (which was dented by a tree) and put some gas in with a new battery and got her to fire. she started up, and ran pretty well. i notcied it ran good when choked when cold which is normal, but then when i opened the choke it revved nice and high once, and wouldnt rev again unless i choked it for a few secs, then unchoked it. it bogs when i give it gas when choke is open no matter how warm it is.... and when its warm, it doesnt rev too pretty when the choke is on. so im wondering whats wrong?? maybe float height? i adjusted the floaats to the point where if i hold the carb upside down the floats sit perfectly level with the side of the carb. if thats not the right way to do it for this bike, then what is? thanks!

Nice project ride. You do not need the choke if the engine is warm. I am not sure on the float adjustment height without looking in the manual. (I am out of town) But also look at your carb synch while you are at it.
