'81 750 LTD Running Rough - Carb Boot Clamps?

Hi
My '81 750 LTD is running a bit rough when I'm accelerating
It hesitates a bit when I start up or downshift for power.
It was suggested in this forum that I check the "carburetor boot clamps"
(whichhave tobe airtight)
Anybody know where I find these and how do I test them?
I am no mechanic and don't want to mess anything up
I just had the carbs cleaned and synched
and it was running great for about 2 weeks
This isn't the first time this has happened and
I don't want to run back to the mechanic all the time as they're more
than happy to see the "cash cow" coming back.
Thanks

The easiest way to check for leaking boots is to spray some starting fluid around the boots to see if there is any change in idle. If there is, you have leaking boots. With the engine warmed up but not running, tighten the clamps around the boots. They tend to tighten up better when warm.
I hope this helps.
