636 cases
hey all,
does anyone know if the bottom engine cases for a 04 636 is the same as the bottom engine cases off an 05 636? I know the top end is different but is the bottom also different? Thanks in advance!

RE: 636 cases
oh, man.. case halves are cast and machined in pairs bro! if you were to mix and match any lower half to the upper, you may seize the motor or have fitment or sealing issures.
those babies are line bored at the factory and the tolerance of the machining is always a variable. if they're shooting for a 2.5000" tolerance on the crank journal, and they have a tolerance of +.0005/-.0001, then you have anything in between that range for a margin of error, and i promise you that even tho they're CNC bored, theres always gonna be a slight tolerance issue to each case pair. every single one will be different from the next.
i am not sure if the lower and upper halves are compatible. if you're looking to install the head and jugs on another complete lower half, that may be do-able... not quite sure on that, but if they DO match up, you CAN do that, since those components aregasketed with a high tolerance for fitment.
